‘Frequently Asked Questions’

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a form of tattooing. Unlike a regular tattoo pigment, ink is implanted under your skin with a manual, handheld tool to create hair-like strokes, giving you the natural, out-of-bed brows you’ve always dreamed of.

How long does it last?

Microblading lasts around 2 years, but this is very dependent on individual lifestyle. Your brows will fade quicker if you are on certain medications or you are exposed frequently to the sun or UV rays without sun protection.

Colour boosts are usually required to keep brows fresh.

Does Microblading hurt?

As with many procedures, microblading can be slightly uncomfortable but pain is kept to a bearable minimum.

Can you cover sparse areas?

No. This is personal preference to the technician but not something Claire does here. She has seen a few sets of brows that have been done this way and feels it gives a very patchy, uneven result throughout the brow. Her job is to give you the best possible brows, so this is not something she feels comfortable doing.

How long does it take?

Claire usually asks her clients to allow 2 and a 1/2 hrs for their appointment, which includes drawing time. On the odd occasion this time could fluctuate. She allows her clients to have a lot of involvement with designing their new brows, and is also extremely particular.

Claire will not start the procedure until she is completely satisfied and you are 100% happy with the design. Your brows make a HUGE difference to your face and this is not something she feels as though can be rushed.

Do you remove the eyebrows?

In most cases, no. Claire tries her hardest to incorporate your natural brow but this isn’t always the case. In instances of extremely uneven brows or patchy brows, she will remove what she feels is necessary to give you the best results. Doing so will mean extra maintenance but this is something she will discuss before going ahead.

Can I choose my brow shape?

Within reason. When designing brows, Claire takes many factors into consideration:

  • Your Face Shape
  • Your Age
  • Your Daily Makeup Routine
  • How You Brows Move When You Talk
  • Your Personality

She is extremely honest with her clients. If she feels as though the design or shape you’re asking for is not right for your face shape, she will work with you to come up with a design that is close to your first choice but also works best for your face.

In extreme cases, if Claire feels what you are after doesn’t work for your face, and she feels as though it will lead to you regretting the design in the near future, she will not proceed with the treatment.

However, this has never happened.

Does it suit all skin types?

Each technique may not be suitable for all skin types, however there is a different technique for each skin type. For example, if you have oily skin, the microblading may not hold, and you may have to go for a combination or powder brow technique. Claire assesses the technique that will be best for your skin type during a consultation.

Will my brows be red & sore?

This cannot really be answered. Claire has had clients leave slightly swollen and red, while others walk out looking as though they haven’t had anything done. Expect your brows to sting or feel tight after the procedure.

These FAQ answers are personal to how Claire works. All technicians work differently and, quite rightly, have different opinions on how they choose to do certain things.
